De Rotterdammer #30
"Roffa, hè?" by Ana Stretcu
"I always have a hard time describing Rotterdam to people who've never been here because it contains such multitudes. So I couldn't pick a single subject to have on the cover because for me it's everything together that makes the city what it is. It's the Bram Ladage fries, but also bami goreng. It's the modern buildings, but also the bridge that wouldn't be dismantled to make room for a billionaire's yacht. It's Dutch to its core in some ways, but it's also full of the unique stories of people who came here from all over the world to make this place their home. It's Rotterdam hè?“
Ana Stretcu is a self-taught Romanian writer, illustrator and all-around maker. Ana rediscovered her love of drawing after 15 years of setting the crayons aside to try to be a “serious” adult. Luckily she failed miserably at it, so she is now focusing on taking silly things seriously. When she’s not working on a children's book, you can find Ana chalklettering the local café sign, wandering through thrift stores or daydreaming about the day she can get 5 chickens and name them all Henrietta.
