De Rotterdammer #23
"Kruising Bosdreef-Hoofdweg" by Saskia de Klerk
"Living in the far northeast of the city (Zevenkamp), the ride home from the city centre takes about 45 minutes by bike. After visiting friends or shopping, this crossing greets me with its colourful lights, almost as if to say, “you’ve made it halfway!” I’ve just passed through the Kralingse Bos, heading toward Alexander, and from there home is just around the corner. The reflections on the wet asphalt make the scene even more inviting."
Saskia de Klerk (1995, Spijkenisse) is an illustrator based in Rotterdam. Her work is deeply inspired by nature, especially animals, both real and imagined. In addition to creating character and creature designs for games, she has a strong passion for plein air drawing and painting, which she captures in her hand-bound sketchbooks.
