"In Een Ochtend in 1517, Erasmus is reimagined in a quiet, reflective moment, sipping his morning coffee after a long night of writing. Dawn breaks over a Europe on the edge of upheaval, as he contemplates the final lines of The Complaint of Peace — a work in which Peace is given a voice to speak out against the violence and divisions of the world. This illustration blends history with a touch of everyday humanity, inviting viewers to reflect on the power of thought, the value of peace, and the quiet moments that follow great effort and spark lasting ideas."

Gozde Eyce is a Rotterdam-based visual artist. Her work features relatable, imperfect illustrations driven by a passion for sustainability, social equity, kindness, and diversity. Her children’s books have been published internationally, and she is one of the co-creators of the De Rotterdammer project.
