"Mirroring Maas" by Ana Oțelea

"My first experience of Rotterdam was by the Maas, looking at OMA’s colossus. Since joining the office I got to learn a lot about its construction. Unassumingly named De Rotterdam, it is the heaviest building in the Netherlands, with an ingenious structural system, yet I love how the river dematerializes it, twisting and bending until it loses all its meticulously designed regularity. "

Ana is an architect originally from Bucharest, who came to Rotterdam in 2019.
Her unhinged dream is to become the mayor of Barcelona and endow it with an adequately sized public toilet network.
