De Rotterdammer #07
"Groene morgen" by Rafa Varona
Rotterdam – a city traditionally known for its concrete landscape – is undergoing some exciting and transformative changes in its green spaces. The city is creating more areas for leisure, cultural events, and better public mobility, alongside the development of green rooftops that will enhance biodiversity. As Rotterdam continues to grow and expand, my hope is that these developments will benefit everyone, including those from lower-income communities.
Rafael Varona is an illustrator, animator, and art director with Peruvian roots, currently based in Berlin and Rotterdam. As the founder of his studio, Rafael Varona specializes in illustration and motion design for a wide range of clients. His work explores a variety of creative spaces, often centered around lush nature, diverse architecture, and quirky, playful characters.
